Cocker spaniel demands to have paw
held in car
Dog named Tommy not content to stick
head out window; he needs to be comforted in a special way, which sometimes is
hard on the driver

Most dogs react the same way when
they’re inside a moving car: they go straight for the open window, where the
fast-moving air and all of its wonderful scents are irresistible. Then there’s
Thomas, or Tommy, a 2-year-old cocker spaniel who is happy only if its owner is
holding its paw. And viewers of the accompanying video will probably agree that
this is just as cute as doggie ears flapping in the wind.
The problem, video uploader Adam
Douglas said via email, is that Tommy is persistent and demands to have his paw
held, which sometimes makes it difficult to drive.
“Sometimes he gets little distracting when I’m
trying to change gears and have to let go of his hand,” Douglas said.
The owner added that he constructed
a special camera setup in his car window area to videotape Tommy’s unique pleas
for affection.
“I set it up before I got into the
car because he does it every time we drive,” Douglas said.
He also said Tommy has a sister
named Elizabeth who, apparently, is more traditional and prefers to watch the
world whiz by through an open window
